Campaign for a European New Deal: the online collection of signatures is starting

logoThe European Citizens Initiative (ECI) “NEW DEAL 4 EUROPE – FOR A EUROPEAN SPECIAL PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT”, registered on March 7th, 2014, by the European Commission, can now start the online collection of signatures on its website
After the official launch of the Campaign on last March 24th, with press conferences held in Brussels, Rome and Paris, and dozens of signature-collection initiatives (using paper forms), it is now possible to sign ONLINE to the European Citizens Initiative (ECI), which is asking the European institutions to forgo austerity and commit themselves to relaunch the European economy and employment by implementing a European special plan financed by own resources coming from a financial transaction tax and a carbon tax.
From the European campaign's website it is possible, with just one click and in a few minutes, to activate the most important tool of participative democracy made available by the Lisbon Treaty.
The goal of the European Committee, chaired by Fausto Durante and Philippe Grosjean, and supported by the European federalists, trade unions, civil society organizations, Mayors of important cities, culture personalities, is to get one million signatures in the eleven months that remain before the deadline for the collection of signatures on March 7th, 2015.
The success of our initiative, aimed in particular to young people, for whom the ECI is calling for the institution of a sizable European fund for employment, will be the best answer for stopping the Euro-skeptical and nationalist tide that is sweeping over our Old continent.
